Are Dreams Really Worth The Fight?
Since it’s now 3.45am in the morning and since I’ve been staring at my damn laptop for close to 12 hours today, I feel it’s only right to take a short break now hehe…
I’ve just finished reading Jack Canfield’s excellent new release:

…and I’ve to say I was awed.
To be honest I didn’t really find anything new from it since I practically have EVERY single piece of product from my favorite “guru”, Tony R, but once in a while I feel it’s good to revisit and remind ourselves of the core principles, values and beliefs of what it really takes to achieve our dreams in life.
I’d have to say I absolutely ADORE self-help materials, I mean, what’s not to like? It gets you pumped, it gets you inspired, and most importantly it really reminds us how powerful the human spirit can be when one gives their all and puts their heart and soul into achieving something.
As we grow older, with all the challenges, the distractions we face day in day out as we’re striving for our dreams, it’s really easy for us to lose focus, become de-motivated and give up along the way…
I’ve seen it happen with the people around me, they start off having big dreams, big plans, big whatever, but as they took the bold step and went on that journey, those dreams somehow seemed to fade away…
“Eh, not easy-lah, negative, negative, bla, bla, bla”…
I’d be the first to admit, as much as I try not to listen, it does somehow affect how I feel sometimes, and with that, I’ve learned to pick and carefully choose exactly whom I take advice from these days…
And yes I know, I find the road stuffed with blocks and negativity too, it’s hard sometimes, difficult as hell, but…
“If you can’t, you must. If you must, you can“
I constantly remind myself of that. Also…
“If you’re not big enough to lose…
You’re not big enough to win”
At least, that’s what I’ve been taught anyway…
Someone once told me if you want to know what your future would look like in the next 5 years of your life, look around, take the total sum of your closest 5 friends you hang out with most and average them out. That’s exactly what your future would look like.
I find it to be true to a certain extent.
At the same time, I’m also only beginning to learn that there should be a time and place for everything. Work is work, play is play. Family is family. Everything is supposed to be BALANCED out (This one I still find a bit susah hehe).
I know how it feels like to give up on a dream.
See, I used to dream of becoming a big ass rock-star (no, seriously).

Playing drums in a rock band (don’t laugh ok, I play drums not bad one ok hehe), performing in front of thousands of crazy screaming fans, touring the world, staying in the Ritz-Carlton’s, living the high-flying jet-setting lifestyle, having big-ass mansions across the globe, making a living, eating, sleeping, writing music…
Aaaah…
That, to me is the epitome of life.
Sad to say, it’s only a dream now… what to do? Never follow through, now become like that-lah. Cher…
But who am I to blame but myself.
Ok, so the past is the past, nothing much I can do about it, but to look AHEAD.
I now have new dreams, new goals and one of it is to become a speaker, a “teacher”, and an INTERNATIONAL one at that. I still want to live in the Ritz-Carltons, have the jet-setting lifestyle, speak in front of thousands, AND be grossly overpaid doing it…
Can it REALLY be done?
Or is it just a “say only” long-shot dream in the sky?
I think it can. It’s all a matter of thinking out of the box, planning and knowing exactly what needs to be done to get it. It’s no easy feat, that I know, but I’m just going to have to give it my best shot.
Now, of course I’ve shared this with my friends before, but normally they’ll laugh for 5 minutes and go…
“Oi, you ar, can or not???!!”
“Eh up to me-lah…” is what I’d say back.
I once read “Think Big, But Start Small”…
Maybe it’s not such a bad idea after all, I think I’ll opt for it…
Its no more of 50 Cent’s “Get Rich Or Die Trying”…
It’s now more of “Do Or Die Trying…” Yeaaah babehh!!
I can only ask the Big Man above to help give me that little “push”, to make the right decisions, to take the right actions and to know the right people in order to make this dream a reality…
It’ll be interesting to see what happens… If I fail, then well, at least I know I tried… better than to never try at all…
Well now, what about YOU?
What are YOUR dreams? What have you always wanted to be when you were still a little kid?
What are YOUR goals in life? Forget whether it’s possible or not possible for a second, strip away all the limitations you have or any form of limitation that society has placed on you for achieving those dreams and just let it flow…
Have you abandoned them?
Or are you still out there waging the never-ending, nerve wrecking war, fighting like there’s no tomorrow for it?
